Lorenzo Rosasco is a principal investigator at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) and a professor at the University of Genova and. He leads the Sustainable Artificial Intelligence and Learning unit. He is a founder and coordinator of the Machine Learning Genova Center (MaLGa) and its Laboratory for Computational and Statistical Learning. His research focuses on developing efficient machine-learning methods with rigorous theoretical foundations and their applications to solve scientific and technological problems. He received his PhD from the University of Genova in 2006, after holding visiting positions at MIT, the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago, and the Johann Radon Institute. From 2006 to 2013, he was a postdoctoral fellow and research scientist in MIT’s Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. He is an ELLIS Fellow and co-director of both the ELLIS program “Theory, Algorithms and Computations of Modern Learning Systems” and the ELLIS Genoa Unit. He has received several awards, including an ERC Consolidator Grant.
